Grades 3 - 5
Students will learn how scientists classify trees. The different parts of the trees and what makes evergreens different from other types of trees. They will learn why tree farming is important to the environment and learn new vocabulary while touring the farm. Students will discover how trees are cultivated and how long before a tree is harvested. They will also learn about the life cycles and why it is important to recycle trees after the holidays are over.
Grades 6 - 8
Students will learn more details about the life cycle of a tree. Expand vocabulary by learning the scientific names. Discover why trees are a vital part of our ecosystem and how they are classified. Students will learn about the process of photosynthesis and what they parts of trees can tells us. They will also learn about the life in a year of a tree grower.
Grades 9 - 12
More advanced studies about how fraser fir tree growers keep their land suitable for producing top quality crops. What role the soil plays. Supply and demand of the tree industry and the various jobs on a tree farm.
